The Ast Quartet, whose name alludes to the growth of branches in a tree, conveys the message of stretching their music out into the world just as branches grow. Founded in September 2021, the quartet is made up of four young, passionate Korean women living in Germany. Shortly after their formation, they played concerts at the Berlin Philharmonie, Japan's Osaka Chamber Music Horizon, HfM Hanns Eisler Berlin's Mozart Festival, HMTM Hannover's 50th Anniversary Summer Festival, Berlin University of the Arts' Crescendo Festival and Music in PyeongChang.

They took first place at the Strings & Chamber Music Competition of the Festival 4 Arts, second place at the Auryn Competition of the Detmold University of Music and the semi-finals at the Concours de Genève. The Ast Quartet was awarded an Ernst von Siemens Music Scholarship and a scholarship from the Förderkreis der HMTMH e.V.. They were also selected as scholarship holders of Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland and received an invitation to the Hohenloher Kultursommer 2024. The Ast Quartet is currently studying for a master's degree in chamber music with Oliver Wille at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover.
