Alexander Lonquich – piano

Alexander Lonquich, born in Trier, is one of the most important performers of his generation as a soloist, chamber musician and conductor. He regularly performs in the most important European music centers, is a guest at international festivals and gives concerts worldwide. As a pianist and conductor, he has performed with orchestras such as the hr Sinfonieorchester Frankfurt, Camerata Salzburg, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Münchener Kammerorchester, Stuttgarter Kammerorchester, NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester, Kammerorchester Basel, Orchestra da Camera di Mantova, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai in Turin.

He has been chief conductor of the Orchestra del Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza since 2014. His diverse discography includes recordings for ECM of works by the Israeli composer Gideon Lewensohn; French piano music (Fauré, Ravel, Messiaen), which has been highly acclaimed by the international press; a solo CD with works by Schumann (Kreisleriana) and Heinz Holliger (Partita), a duo CD with the violinist Carolin Widmann with works by Schubert. He recently recorded Schubert's last piano works and Beethoven's sonatas for piano and cello (with Nicolas Altstaedt) for Alpha Classics.

As an enthusiastic chamber musician, Alexander Lonquich is a partner of Nicolas Altstaedt, Carolin Widmann, Heinz Holliger, Christian Tetzlaff, Vilde Frang, Jörg Widmann, the Quarteto Casals and the Quatuor Ébène, among others. Alexander Lonquich has been Director of the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole since fall 2020.
